1st grade is working on using warm colors to paint fish for their koi pond- last class they used cool colors to paint a water background that shows value and movement. Next week they will put them all together!
2nd grade scrolls2nd grade practiced using the y-technique to paint realistic trees on their scrolls today! They practiced using different parts of the brush to make branches that reach toward the edges of the page and go from thick to thin.
5th grade Pop Art portraits5th grade students are finishing up their pop art self portraits inspired by the work of Roy Lichtenstein. Students learned about drawing proportionate faces and then drew their own self portrait. Students painted their portrait in the style of Lichtenstein by outlining with bold black lines, using only primary colors (or only secondary colors), putting neat rows of dots on the face and shirt, and adding a speech bubble in the background.
4th Grade finishes mosaics4th grade recently completed their paper mosaics. Students concentrated on putting small pieces of colored paper together to make their picture.
2nd Grade begins a new project2nd grade began making background pages for their new scroll project. They choose three analogous colors and used tempera cakes and the wet-on-wet painting technique to bleed their three colors together.
Kindergarten Arctic LandscapesKindergarten learned about cool colors and textures with their cool Arctic Landscapes. Students began by using two different watercolor techniques to create texture in their background- cracks in their icy ground and stars in their night sky. Next, students used sponges to print trees and polar bears that had texture!
